What is Cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy is a highly effective and safe procedure that is used to freeze and destroy benign skin lesions.

 

It uses liquefied nitrous oxide to destroy the tissue by freezing the cell fluid, which intern forms ice shards that rupture the cell membrane and in turn destroying the cell and the lesion.

 

Cryotherapy is beneficial as it is quicker than other treatments and you can be in and out in seconds. It requires no anaesthesia and has minimal scarring. There are no limitations on activities ( except protecting the area from damage or abrasion) and you can return to normal activities after treatments.

 

 

 

Can anyone have the treatment?

Yes, however, skin type and location should be considered carefully prior to treatment.

 

Can children have CryoPen treatments?

Yes, however, parental consent is required.

 

What follow-up is necessary?

Follow-up should be scheduled in two weeks intervals to serve results and for further sessions if required.

 

Will there be scarring?

Typically, it leaves the least amount of scarring from any form of lesion removal, because it causes the least damage to the connective tissues. Hypopigmented lesions will be noted until this darkens with the new tanning.

 

How many treatments are needed?

Most lesions will respond to single treatment. However, some deeper lesions may take several aggressive treatments to get results.

 

Treatment cost starts at £60, usually up to 3 small lesions can be treated at this cost, but a consultation is necessary to provide accurate cost of treatment.

Any follow up treatment is chargeable at £60.
